Have you gotten your lash extensions done and it just wasn’t what you were expecting? You open your eyes and you just wish it was curlier. Some people have asked us if you are able to curl your lash extensions after getting them done. The simple answer is no, we do not recommend attempting to curl your lash extensions with heat or any manual curler.
Why You Shouldn’t Curl Your Extensions
Curling your lash extensions will damage the extension and possibly your natural lashes as well. Excessive heat or physical trauma will destroy most types of lash extensions, so if you try to curl it, it will damage your extensions and it will look worse. First thing to understand is the different types of curls so that you can have a discussion with your lash artist about the curl that you’re actually looking for.
The Curls
Lash extensions come in many different curls. The most basic curls that lash artist use are C, CC and D, but there are many others as well. Here is a table of the different curls and their descriptions.
Curl | Description |
---|---|
B | B Curl provides almost no lift (the straighest curl manufactered) |
J | Slightly curlier than B curl, but still a relatively straight curl |
C | C Curl provides a medium lift (not too straight, but not too curly). |
CC | CC Curl provides a curl that is in-between C and D curls. |
D | D Curl provides maximum lift |
LC, LD | L curls have a straight base 1 to 2 mm-transitioning into a typical C or D curl |
M | No actual curl, they are straight, then out |
Now what?
Every person’s eyes are different so sometimes it can be difficult to get the perfect curl for the look your are going for, especially for your first appointment. For example, if you have protruding eyes, a CC curl can look like a D curl. Remember that lash extensions are not permanent and that you can always get it fixed! Have a discussion with your lash artist about going curlier or less curlier for your next appointment if you don’t feel like it matched your preferences.
Whatever you do, do not try to curl your lash extensions as the methods of curling lash extensions can destroy the attached lash extensions and possibly your natural lashes.
